A fall bouquet of hydrangeas, of course.
This is the time of year I love to pick them.
They stay looking fresh,
even as they dry.

The colors are so lovely,
purples, browns, greens and blues,
a little faded, muted. Subtle.
Blending into each other
like a watercolor painting.

They will stay beautiful into the winter,
when it's hard to remember what summer looks like.
Like a promise.
